Anna Mae Harner,81, of Ft. McCoy, FL, passed away at home surrounded by her family, on April 30, 2016. She was born in her parent's home in Sebring on November 3, 1934 to the late Harry Sr. and Georgia (Brown) Swank. She graduated from Sebring High School in 1953 where she was a proud member of the SHS marching band then continued on with her education at Davis Institute of Technology and X-Ray of Miami. Soon after graduation she moved to Puerto Rico to work in the Brethren Service Project Hospital Castañer where she met and later married her husband of 60 years, Carl Harner. Anna Mae continued working in the medical field through her career including working several decades for the late Dr. Augustus Foster prior to moving to the Ocala area in 1982. She loved spending time with her family, crafts, sewing, cooking, traveling, camping, hunting and most outdoor adventures.
Anna Mae is survived by her husband, Carl W. Harner, three children, Arnold (Lisa) Harner of Cartersville, GA; Becky (Raymond) McIntyre of Sebring; Darryl Harner of Ft. McCoy, FL; 4 grandchildren: Justin (Heather) Harner, Acworth, GA; Ann Marie (Andrew) Harner Iannone, Honolulu, HI; Garrett (Melissa) McIntyre, Davie, FL; and Heather McIntyre, San Rafael, CA; brother Charles Swank, Sebring and sister, Joyce Privara Stutzman, Sebring.
The celebration of life will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, May 6, at the Sebring Church of the Brethren with Dr. Eugene Bengtson officiating. Visitation with the family will be held on Thursday, May 5, 6pm-8pm at the Morris Funeral Chapel.
The family thanks all the caregivers who supported Anna Mae with compassion and love including the loving ministry provided by the deacons and members of the First Baptist Church of Fort McCoy. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Hospice of Marion County (P.O. Box 4860, Ocala, FL, 34478-4860) or First Baptist Church of Fort McCoy (P.O. Box 480, Fort McCoy, FL 32134)
