Sebring

My precious wife and our dear mother, Charlotte Fountain Kent, age 90, of Sebring, passed away into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in the early morning of June 7, 2026, after a very brief illness. She was born in Lake Wales, Florida, to the late Louis and Verdia Royal Cowart.

Charlotte had been living in Highlands County since 1984, having previously lived in Georgia for many years. She worked at the Highlands County Supervisor of Elections office, then at The Palms at Sebring, and then she worked and volunteered at Good Shepherd Hospice. She had been attending St. John Methodist Church in Sebring. Her greatest passion was reading, and she could always be found with a book in her hand.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter Lisa Merrick, her sister Gerry Lowe, and her former husband Noah Fountain, Jr. (father of her children).

She is survived by her husband Chaplain J. Cecil Kent; her son Noah Fountain (Kathleen); her daughter Carla Lutz (Adam); stepdaughters Stephanie Ellis and Tanya Fagan (Craig); grandchildren Bryony Wilbur (Glenn), James Fountain (Lauren), Thomas Fountain (Deana), Adam Fountain, Jonathan Fountain, Mandalay Pruitt, Emma Timberlake (Chase) and Jonathan Fagan; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 13, at the Morris Funeral Chapel, Sebring. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m., Saturday. We invite all who knew and loved Charlotte to join us in honoring her memory.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in her honor to Good Shepherd Hospice, 1110 Hammock Rd, Sebring, FL 33870.

Arrangements handled by Morris Funeral Chapel, Sebring.
