MAHAFFEY, DAVID G., 69 of Sebring, FL passed away on Tuesday November 13, 2018. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, cousin, uncle and friend. Born in Buffalo, NY on April 20, 1949. He was preceded in death by his mother and father Peggy and Albert, his brother James, his wife Ruth and his sons David and Steven. He is survived by his brother, Tim; son, Mark; daughter, Jennifer; his four grandchildren, Nicole, Levi, Erica and Eli; fiance, Laura; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. David was a decorated Vietnam Veteran. His service in the US Army allowed him to do what he loved and that was flying. He graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He also enjoyed the time he spent as a glider pilot and instructor. Later, Dave flew for various airmail and passenger plane companies in Alaska with the longest time being spent at Wright Air Service out of Fairbanks. After his retirement, Dave continued to fly privately and ended his career here in Sebring, Florida. Dave will be greatly missed as he was a kind and giving person that knew his goals and strived to achieve them. He believed more in experiences than material possessions and loved his family dearly. Services for Dave will be held at Morris Funeral Chapel at 2 pm on Monday, November 19th with Honors by the VFW Post 4300 to follow the service.  The chapel is located at 307 S. Commerce Ave in Sebring, Florida. The family has asked that donations be sent to VFW Post 4300 located at 1041 Lakeview Drive, Sebring, FL 33870 in lieu of flowers. www.morrisfuneralchapel.com.
