Deidre Mickler Howell
March 15, 1969 - June 25, 2026
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.” John 3:16-17
With love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of Deidre Mickler Howell, who entered the presence of her Savior on June 25, 2026, after a courageous year-long battle with triple-negative breast cancer. She was 57 years old.
Deidre's life reflected faith, perseverance, and love. Though she lived with disabilities, she was known for her joyful spirit, generous heart, and determination to live each day with purpose. At the age of eight, Deidre accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at First Baptist Church of Fort Lauderdale. Her faith remained the foundation of her life, bringing her strength through every season. She loved Christian music, singing in the church choir, and participating in Christmas pageants.Deidre took pride in every job she held, including serving customers at Walmart, Publix, and McDonald's. During the last four years of her life, she was lovingly cared for at May's Caring Home. She also enjoyed attending Pathways to Opportunity at Goodwill, where she formed meaningful friendships, and she was blessed by the fellowship of Harbor Lights Life Group and her parent’s Life Group, the Beacons at McGregor Baptist Church.Independent and generous, Deidre especially enjoyed giving to others and was proud of learning to navigate the Fort Lauderdale bus system on her own.The greatest joy of her life was marrying the love of her life, Bruce Howell. She deeply loved her husband and was proud to be his wife.Deidre was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Mickler. She is survived by her beloved husband, Bruce Howell; her parents, Jim and Andrea Mickler; her brother, Boyd Mickler; her sister, Carol Samhoun (Jalal Sr.); and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.Though we grieve her absence, we rejoice in the assurance that Deidre is now healed and at home with her Lord and Savior. Her faith, kindness, and loving spirit will be remembered by all who knew her.
