Dolores Lekstutis

Dolores Alvina (Stadler) Lekstutis passed away February 24th in Orlando, Florida, surrounded by family. Born October 8th, 1931, in Queens, NY, the daughter of William and Catherine Stadler. She graduated from The Bishop McDonnell Memorial High School. In 1950, she married Frank Lekstutis. They raised their five children first in Brooklyn, NY, then in Ronkonkoma, Long Island.

Dolores was a teachers aid for many years, and retired from the State of New York as a driving inspector in 1986, moving first to Wells, NY, then to Sebring, FL in 1992.

Dolores was a life long Catholic and was very active in the church, leading Women's Bible Study groups every place she lived. A current member of St. Catherine's Church, she was a past president of the Council of Catholic Women. Giving back and serving God was her life-long calling. While living in Ronkonkoma, Dolores became very active with the PTA, where she advocated for students to receive adequate services and education in a growing community and was president of the PTA for many years.

Frank and Dolores's home is filled not only with pictures of all her family and friends, but many of her paintings. Her children all have her paintings hanging in their homes, all painted by Mom with special themes for them. Throughout her life she shared her love of singing and playing piano with both her family and the church, singing in the choir for many years. In her retirement, she loved to travel, spending time visiting friends and family around the country and abroad.

Dolores is survived by her husband of 66 years, Frank Lekstutis, her five children, Frank (Patricia) of Staten Island, NY, Veronica of Tampa, FL, Arthur (Gina) of Nesconset, NY, Matthew (Amy) of Rocky River, OH, and Albert of Santa Cruz, CA along with her grandchildren Julie, James, Abigail, Jessica, Colin, Allison and Lia, and her sister-in Law, Antoinette Stadler of Fairfield, CT as well as many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her brother, William, and her sister, Katherine, her sister-in-law and brother-in-law Bette and Ben Platt, and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law John and Muriel Lekstutis.
