Eldridge D. Pollard, 96, passed away December 27, 2025 at his residence. He was born on April 21, 1929 in Sebring, Florida. His grandparents had a boarding house on a hill near the Sebring Train Depot. He would stay with his grandmother at the boarding house during the week to be close to school, then with his grandfather at the farm on the weekends. Not long after he finished school, Eddie Feigner came to town for an Exhibition game. Eldridge was hired by Eddie and traveled professionally with Eddie and the four man team playing fast pitch softball for several years.
He became a Fireman with the Sebring Fire Department from 1952 – 1972. On his days off, he began installing flooring and opened Eldridge's Flooring on Ridgewood Drive. After he sold his business, he became a Code Enforcement Officer and Fire Inspector with the City of Sebring. He retired from there and re-opened a flooring store, Eldridge's Design Center on Highway 27 and worked there until he retired at the age of 90. He was a lifetime member of the Sebring Firemen, Inc., and also served on the Board of Sebring Utilities and Spring Lake. He enjoyed hunting and was able to travel to many places in the world.
Eldridge was married to Margaret Collins Waldron for 64 years. They had four children but lost a daughter JoAnne when she was 2. He was also preceded in death by his grandson, Michael Sparks, a granddaughter, Adrian Janet “A.J.” Sparks, and his son-in-laws Paul Sparks and Harold Allbritton.
He is survived by his wife Kim; his daughters Janet Allbritton and Carol Sparks; a son Eldridge (Roberta); Grandsons, William Allbritton and Brannon (Gail) Sparks; and his great grandsons, Keegan, Evan, Grayson, Josiah, Quinn and Beckett.
Services will be held Saturday, January 3, 2026 at 11:00AM at Morris Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be on hour before from 10:00AM – 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Cemetery. A luncheon will be held following the services at the Firemen's Hall, 600 Hickory Street.
