Judith Carole Catron Harnage

HARNAGE, JUDITH CAROLE CATRON, born 7/6/1940 passed away on April 6, 2012. Judy was the daughter of Robert LeRoy and Marie (Fink) Catron, both deceased, and sister to Robert LeRoy Catron, Jr. of Lorida. Ms. Harnage leaves behind her ex-husband and dear friend, Ivan D. Harnage. The couple had 3 daughters, Kristi L. and her husband, Lee McGathey, of Sebring, Kerri Beth Harnage of Sebring and Kasey A. and her husband, Gene Cool, Jr. of Lawrenceville, GA. She is grandmother to four grandchildren, Marcus and Justin Arrington, Kayla M. Harnage, and W. James Smith. She also leaves behind a large number of Harnage relatives with whom she had remained close, many nieces and nephews, and her best friend, Marjorie O‘Meara.
Ms. Harnage graduated from Sebring High in 1958, received her AA degree from SFCC in 1996 and at age 70, after 35 years of schooling, earned her BA degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Hodges University.
Ms. Harnage retired from SFCC in 2002 where she was a Library Assistant for 12 years. She also taught a variety of Community Education classes and lectured on the Cherokee while at SFCC.
Ms. Harnage was also an artist who enjoyed working in all media, a craftsman who designed over 50 different Christmas trees and never repeated a theme, a seamstress who designed and made her daughter‘s wedding gowns, a genealogist, an amateur archeologist, and an avid reader.
There will be a “Celebration of Life” memorial on April 28th at 3-6PM at the Sebring Womans Club, 4260 Lakeview Dr. In lieu of flowers, Judy has requested that you make a donation to the Smile Foundation @ www.operationsmile.org or by phone or mail.
