Patty Young unexpectedly passed away in her sleep and woke up to see Jesus on Monday, October 13, 2025. She was born on July 27, 1956, in Waukegan, Illinois, to Ruth and Edwin Krupo.
Patty grew up on a 20-acre farm, campground, and plumbing supply business in Antioch, Illinois, along the banks of the Fox River, known as Happy Acres Ranch and Marina. There, she sheared sheep, fed pigs, horses, chickens, and even deer her father raised. She developed a lifelong love of animals—especially cats—while working on the farm, bottle-feeding lambs and caring for every creature she met. Her father instilled in her a strong work ethic and a deep sense of responsibility for others, values that became the foundation of her life’s work and purpose.
In 1972, the family moved to Marco Island, Florida, where Patty graduated from Naples High School the following year. She later married and had two beautiful children, Chet and Melissa. Patty mastered the sewing machine at an early age, having learned from her grandmother, Marie Buikema. Even in high school, she was known to correct her Home Economics teacher’s sewing techniques. She could create pageant dresses, costumes, and clothing with ease—skills that reflected both her creativity and her determination. That gift for seeing what needed to be done and doing it carried her through every chapter of her life.
Patty worked tirelessly to help build her first home in Golden Gate, Florida, and helped launch the family’s car detailing business. She could detail two or three cars a day while still managing a busy household and raising her children.
Beyond her family, Patty’s greatest passions were helping others, rescuing cats, and admiring the beauty of butterflies. She loved cats simply for who they were, and she loved butterflies for their grace and transformation. She founded her own management and senior care business in Bonita Springs, Florida, where she provided compassionate care to everyone in need—elderly or not.
Thirteen years ago, Patty moved to Sebring, Florida, to begin a new chapter. She re-established her senior care business and continued to pour her heart into the lives of the people she served. Patty’s compassion, strength, and resilience were unmatched. She always put others—whether people or animals—before herself, and her unwavering kindness touched everyone who knew her. She loved her grandchildren deeply and cherished every moment spent watching them grow.
Patty was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and Edwin Krupo, and her brother. She is survived by her son Chet (Anna), daughter Melissa (Ryan), and her beloved grandchildren Karsyn, Dylan, Layla, and Mason. She also leaves behind her sister Debora, niece Linnea, nephew Ryan, and cousins Kathy, Patrick, and Dale.A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. at Morris Funeral Chapel, 307 S. Commerce Ave, Sebring, Florida 33870.
In honor of Patty’s lifelong dedication to animal rescue, the family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her name to the Hardee Animal Rescue Team (H.A.R.T.), P.O. Box 2486, Wauchula, FL 33873, or online at https://hartrescue.org/
