Robert "Bobby" Youmans



Robert "Bobby" Youmans, 85, passed away peacefully at his home in Sebring, FL where he resided since leaving his beloved Key West for the final time in 2005. Bobby was born October 29, 1925 to Rex and Myrtle Youmans in Tacoma Park, MD. After the attack on Pearl Harbor, just 16 years old, he lied about his age to serve his country as a coxswain in the Navy. After WWII, he worked for the National Gallery of Art in DC. until falling in love with Key West and becoming a conch, serving drinks to Robert Frost and Tennessee Williams and swimming in Hemingway's pool during his fling with the author's ex-wife, Pauline. Contributions in Bobby's name to the Key West Art in Public Places fund are appreciated in lieu of flowers. The family will receive friends, 10 am to 11am, Friday at Morris Funeral Chapel. Military Honor 2:00 pm, Sarasota National Cemetery.
