Terrance Walter Malloy, Sr. of Venus, Florida passed away peacefully on May 20, 2025 at the age of 83.
Terry, as he was known, was born on All Saints Day, November 1, 1941, in Clinton, New York to Walter and Amy Malloy. He was the oldest of 8 children growing up on "The Farm" in West Eaton, New York.
Terry is predeceased by his parents and brother in-law Lee Perocchi. He is survived by his ex-wives Catherine, Beverly, Patricia, and his current wife of 32 years Karen Hurlburt Malloy. He is also survived by his 7 siblings: Walt (Joyce) Malloy, Kathy (Dale) Lueck, Karen (Jim) Terrell, Sally (Duncan) Dowling, Jackie (Greg) Pickard, Betty Malloy, and Pat (Della) Malloy. He is also survived by his children: Nancy (Kevin) Loucy, Susan (Mark) Painter, Laura (Keith) deClercq, Terry Jr. (Christine) Malloy and Karen's children Holly (Scott) Brown and Shane Carulli, as well as his 13 grandchildren: Shannon (Aaron) Osburn, Shawn (Oanh) Loucy, Jennifer (Ben) Diles, Jessica (Mark) Elder, Joshua Painter, Steven deClercq, Brian deClercq, Daniel deClercq, Jacob (McKenna) Malloy, Max (Olivia) Malloy, Hannah Malloy, Anthony Brown and Zachary Brown. Terry is a graduate of SUNY Oswego where he received a BS in Vocational Education and then taught Auto Mechanics at Broome-Tioga BOCES for 30 years, retiring in 1997. He was a long- term sub for Terry Jr's paternity leave for the spring semester of 1998 at Horseheads High School. Terry and Karen then moved to Venus, Florida, taking a plethora of animals including dogs, goats, horses, cockatiels and cats. While in Florida he worked for 17 more years as an Educational Director for two different Department of Justice youth programs: Crossroads Wilderness Institute and Last Chance Ranch.
Terry had a heart of gold when it came to animals, friends and family. He would take any stray dog off the street, once having a dozen in the Newark Valley house. He helped to care for many elderly friends and family members when they were in need. Terry had an immense devotion to his family and loved his wife and children above all else.
Terry's legacy is the camp he built on the farm property; his favorite place to be! He worked hard to create a beautiful, comfortable, welcoming place for family and friends to gather and hunt. His passion has been passed to his son and grandchildren and will always serve as a tribute to his vision.
A memorial service in Terry's honor will be held this summer at his camp at "The Farm." More information to follow. For those wishing to honor Terry with a gift, we are asking for charitable donations to be made to Gemini Farm Sanctuary at www.geminifarmsanctuary.org or checks can be mailed to 926 Babcock Hill Road, Rome, PA 18837.
