John A. Santore

John A. Santore, cherished and beloved husband of Merrie-Anne Santore, passed away on September 7, 2019. They recently celebrated 51 years of marriage together. John graduated from Draper High School and Hudson Valley Community College. While attending college, he was a member of the 109th Air National Guard of the Stratton Airforce Base. John began his long career with the NYS Department of Transportation as a Civil Engineer for 32 years working on many major roads and bridges. After retiring, he went on to be a Consultant with McDonald Engineering Company and also with FEMA.

John’s true love was his music. He played saxophone all his life. He played professionally while pursuing his career with DOT in upstate NY. He entertained many with his beautiful music of tenor and alto saxophone. One of the bands he played with was the Imperial IV.

John never creased to amaze us with his wonderful sense of humor and quick wit.

He loved fishing, building and renovating homes and homemade Italian food. Many wonderful memories and friends were made at their Sacandaga Lake camp. Most of all he treasured the title “Poppy”.

He leaves his wife, Merrie-Anne, his daughter Marlo and Bill McGloin of New Canaan, CT, his adored two grandchildren, Katey and Ryan. John also leaves his two sisters, Nancy (Dom) Famularo and their two children Faith Marie and Gregory; and Leah (Joe) Lennon and their sons Jason and Daniel. In addition, he is survived by his Uncle Victor, sister in laws, Paula Wilke (family), Patricia (Bob) Holmes (family), Candace Wilke-Beals (family), Pamela Wilke-Hladik (family), Delores Wilke-Dunn (family) and many loving cousins, friends, and especially his lifelong friend Edward August.

A memorial service is being held at The Church of the Immaculate Conception of Glenville, 400 Saratoga Rd, on October 5th, 2019 at 10am.
